Selling your old vehicle
There comes a day when you have to sell your vehicle for some reason or the other - a desire to buy a new car, reduced mileage, too much of repairs and many other reasons. In fact, by selling your old vehicle, you stand to get some extra cash that can be used to pay for your new car. However, it proves to be difficult to sell the car if it looks too worn out or not maintained well. So it is better to spruce the car a bit before selling it as used cars that look good get a much higher price than a used car that looks dirty and worn out.
Clean the car before selling
Potential buyers usually judge the price and feasibility of buying a car by looking at its exterior. So make sure that you thoroughly clean and wash the car before trying to sell it. Everyone pays lots of attention to cleaning the body of the car. However, the wheels too should be given the same attention. If there is any road debris or road dirt on the wheels, wash them off.
Aim at making the car look as shiny and new as possible. You can easily fix and hide any scratches and chips on the car with the help of some touch-up paint. At the same time, pound out any dents there may be in the car. Once the exterior of the car is done with, start working on the interiors of the car.
Vacuum the interior of the car to get rid of all dust and dirt there may be on the seats. Any personal items in the car have to be removed. Make sure you go through the interior of the car like a comb; who knows, you may find that lost house key you were looking for! Make the interior of the car as clean as possible, and make sure that there is no smell of dampness in the car. Be sure to remove all traces of food especially calcium rich foods such as cheese, which may become smelly. The car should smell good. After the interior and exterior are done, clean the engine compartment and trunk as well. Remember, the cleaner the car is, the higher the price it can fetch.
When you embark on selling your old car, it is better to place some form of advertising in the local papers and the internet. Both prove to be effective means of advertising your car as it reaches a large number of people; and there will definitely be a few people interested in buying your vehicle. However, when placing an ad in the internet or papers, it is important that the ad is clear, correct and concise so that it attracts the attention of casual readers.
Make sure that you describe your car well, by mentioning the model, year of manufacture and make of the car in the ad. Include its general condition, odometer readings for relatively new cars and details of its engine and transmission. Don’t use any abbreviations or jargon which the reader may not understand. Don’t create too long ad; something between 20 and 30 words proves to be sufficient.
